Less than a three hour drive from Las Vegas, Nevada, Cedar Breaks National Monument is a must-see Utah wonder! With incredible scenery along the way, it makes a great destination between Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks.

But, beyond the three points mentioned (Cedar Breaks, Zion, and Bryce Canyon) there are many more unique places in between that are worth checking out along the way. Travelling north on I-15 from Las Vegas, NV to State Route 14 and Cedar Breaks National Monument here are 5 places that are worth adding to your southern Utah road trip!

Cedar Breaks National Monument

1. Red Cliff Recreation Area, Leeds Utah

Not far off of the Interstate, this is a great spot to get out and stretch your legs after a long drive. Red Cliffs Recreation Area is home to some incredible Utah red-rock scenery and fun. From hiking trails and natural swimming spots to a large picnic area, this is a great place to start your southern Utah visit.

2. Kolob Canyons | North Zion National Park

The "quieter" side of Zion National Park, Kolob Canyons is no less spectacular than the main canyon. With towering cliffs of crimson sandstone, hiking trails, swaths of forest and wildflowers (in summer) and a 5-mile scenic drive, you can experience this park in many ways. Get out and hike the trails, or enjoy the views from overlooks and a scenic drive.

3. Cedar City, Utah

A little break for your drive, Cedar City is home to incredible restaurants, shops, and events just waiting to be explored. Stop in Historic Downtown for treats, shopping and dining, or check out the arts at the Southern Utah Museum of Art & Utah Shakespeare Festival, as well as the vibrant murals and sculptures found within walking distance.

4. The Zion Overlook, Cedar Canyon (SR 14)

Enjoy the scenic drive through Cedar Canyon (State Route 14) with sweeping rock formations and forest views, but don't miss this one incredible view point near the peak! At mile marker 14 you'll see a paved pull-off area and signage. This is the Zion Overlook. The views of the forest leading to the rising formations of Zion National Park in the distance are always worth a stop.

5. Cedar Breaks National Monument South Rim Trail

Easily one of our favorite ways to see the vibrant formations and sweeping views of Cedar Breaks National Monument, the South Rim Trail is a great hiking option. Along the 5 mile trail hikers follow the rim of the formation through wildflowers and patches of forest. And at the Spectra Point Viewpoint you can stand among Bristlecone Pine Trees too!
