A Day and Night at the Breaks

A Day and Night at the Breaks from 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Cedar Breaks National Monument (Hwy U-148). Join Southern Utah University, the University of the Parks, and Visit Cedar City in a day and night to support our backyard at Cedar Breaks National Monument!

 

Entrance is FREE (as part of National Public Lands Day)

 

Activities are free but please consider donating all or part of what you would normally pay for your entrance to the effort to raise funds for the new visitor center at the monument (donations gladly accepted at the Forever Project tent or at Cedarbreaks.org)

 

FREE Activities 1 pm – 5 pm

 

  • SUU students, faculty, staff, alumni, Cedar City residents, and visitors
  • Meet at Point Supreme at Cedar Breaks (look for the tents to sign up)

 

 

Volunteer and give back with two service opportunities – all supplies provided

  • Help get the campground ready for winter
  • Help with revegetation on the Alpine Loop Trail

 

Old Sorrel Trail Driving Tour

  • Led by Steve Heath, SUU Emeritus professor
  • Experience the legendary founding of SUU and Cedar City on location
  • Bring a high clearance vehicle if possible

 

Be a National Park Artist

  • Join local artists painting the beautiful landscapes of Cedar Breaks
  • Try your hand at national park art

 

Other Hikes may be available – check at Point Supreme

 

Constellation Tour 7 pm – 9 pm

 

Top off your day at Cedar Breaks for what it’s best known for – dark skies! Join a Cedar Breaks ranger for a tour of the constellations. Bring a jacket and flashlight and meet at Point Supreme. (flashlights are recommended to be red light – this helps to maintain dark adaption for nighttime viewing)
