Parowan Gap Spring Equinox Observation
Parowan Gap Spring Equinox Observation tour begins at 6:00 pm at the Parowan Gap Petroglyphs (National Register of Historic Sites) and includes a presentation of the ancient Native American solar calendar, guided interpretive tour, (7:00 pm) half-mile hike to the Equinox Sunset cairn, and (7:30 pm) observation of the spring equinox sunset down the middle of Parowan Gap opening. The program is FREE and those attending are encouraged to wear good walking shoes, dress for cooler weather, and bring water to drink. For information call Nancy Dalton (435) 463-3735.
Those coming out to the event will watch the sun slide down the south slope of the Gap opening and then sit in the middle before disappearing.
From Cedar City – Go north on Main Street which will become Hwy 130. Continue north for 13.5 miles then turn east and go 2.5 miles on the Gap Road.
From Parowan – Go north on Main Street to 400 North, turn west and drive under the interstate and continue west for 10.5 miles
