Beyond the trails, Cedar City (and Parowan) are home to a growing collection of murals, sculptures, and public art that tell the story of our communities. Cedar City's mural scene has grown from a community putting public art, bold colors, and storytelling on display. Parowan has added new murals, from inspirational to storytelling. The collection spans from telling the history of the area to highlighting landscapes we love and sharing messages of joy. All of them are free and open to the public.

Downtown Cedar City
Within easy walking distance between 200 N and 200 S, there are 12 murals in Historic Downtown Cedar City! They range from bold and bright to historic and storytelling, and they're all worth adding to your itinerary. I/G Winery Mural & Utawesome Mural
Location: 59 West Center Street, behind/on the I/G Winery building
Our first location in downtown Cedar City is home to one of the first murals in our open-air gallery and one of our most unique murals in one stop. Start at the building just behind I/G Winery (on the side of the Bristlecone Spin Studio) to find the bright and beautiful Utawesome Mural! After that, walk a few steps over to find the bright and playful I/G Winery mural on the patio.

You Belong, Cedar Breaks & Suh'Dutsing Murals
Location: 97 West Center Street, behind the Bristlecone Building & on Home on the Desert Range
With a super short walk next door, you can catch the bright and uplifting YOU BELONG mural on the back of the Bristlecone Building. Step inside for a moment, grab a coffee or tea for the rest of your walk. Out the front door of Bristlecone, you'll see the Suh'Dutsing Mural, which depicts a personal interpretation of Paiute beliefs and stories, told through artist Daniel Growler's own words and modern aesthetic. On the other side of the Home on the Desert Range building is the bold and neutral Cedar Breaks Mural by artist Lone Coyote.

Location: 18 North 100 West on the Dippers Building
The cutest little dessert shop in Downtown is home to the brightest mural! This bright, geometric building decorates the north side, creating the perfect photo-op spot for your Downtown outing and dessert. Step inside to grab a frozen banana treat or chocolate-covered strawberries before continuing your mural walk across the street.

Johnson Center Mural & Create Mural
Location: 59 North 100 West at the Johnson Center for Community Arts & Education Building
Looking across the street from Dippers, you'll notice a bright and playful mural with musicians and artists on the wall of the Johnson Center for Community Arts & Education Building. This mural highlights the creative space that it's painted on. The Johnson Center is a space for summer art camps, art events, and live music on the outdoor stage on the north side of the building. This outdoor stage has a bold backdrop in the Create Mural on the other side.

Aunt Pliney, Shape Theory, and the 7-UP Murals
Location: Aunt Pliney (121 N Main Street), Shape Theory (173 N 100 W), 7 UP Mural (189 N Main Street)
These three murals have a little bit of distance between them, but all three are worth the walk! Across the street from the Johnson Center at 121 North Main Street, you'll find the Aunt Pliney Mural. This mural celebrates a local suffragist and doctor, Paulina Phelps Lyman (Aunt Pauline), who delivered hundreds of babies in Cedar City & Parowan's early days. The Shape Theory Mural adds a bright touch to one of Cedar City's coolest new spaces. Shape Theory Ceramics holds community classes and parties and is a great creative space in Downtown. The Fresh Up 7-Up Mural was uncovered in 2025 when the hotel it sat behind was removed. This fun historic mural has added a little pop to the entrance to Downtown.

Cedar City Visitor Center
A little further down Main Street (at 581 North Main Street), park at the Cedar City Visitor Center and get ready for a quick walk to find four more murals within walking distance at the Visitor Center, Frontier Homestead State Park, and on the Coal Creek walking trail. (Pause to take a pic with the directional sign out front to commemorate your visit!)
Bee-Utahful and Let Wonder Bee Your Guide Murals
Location: 581 North Main Street at the Cedar City Visitor Center
Walk around the Cedar City Visitor Center to find two murals that highlight our place in the "beehive" state with the Let Wonder Bee Your Guide Mural and the Bee-Utahful mural at the Visitor Center. The Let Wonder Bee Your Guide mural shows a large bee above the vibrant rock formations of Cedar Breaks, surrounded by fall leaves. Just down the path a little to the right, you'll find the bee-UTAH-ful mural. This one also depicts a large bee, perched on a flower, with Cedar Breaks visible in the distance and green meadows all around.

Four Branches, One Spirit & the Gateway to the Parks Murals
Location: Four Branches, One Spirit (on the Coal Creek Trail -about 210 E). Gateway to the Parks (635 N Main Street)
Continue on the Coal Creek Trail in the opposite direction (to the East) until you come to the second overpass, where the trail crosses underneath. Here you'll find Cedar City's newest mural! Four Branches, One Spirit was created by Paiute artist Josie Pete to honor veterans and service members like her late father, Herman Pete, who served in the U.S. Army. A short walk from Veterans Memorial Park, this new addition fits the spirit of Cedar City perfectly.
Back up the trail, across the parking lot from the Cedar City Visitor Center, is the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum. On the north side of the building, you'll find a vibrant, 3-panel mural titled Gateway to the Parks. This highlights Cedar City's long-standing history of tourism and welcoming visitors to our nearby vibrant national parks. From the 1920s onward, Cedar City has acted as a basecamp for Utah's National Parks visitors.

Road Trip to Parowan
Quick road trip! A 20-minute drive north from Cedar City, you'll find the cutest small town in southern Utah, Parowan. Parowan is home to a handful of murals throughout town, all of them at locations worth adding to your itinerary! So, let's go through them!
Make Everything Beautiful at Sweet Pea Farm & Orchard
Location: Sweet Pea Farm & Orchard at 136 S 600 W, Parowan
The most picture-perfect small town farm combined with a beautiful, floral mural, Sweet Pea Farm & Orchard is always worth a visit. This super cute mural is a bonus! Stop by on weekends in summer to catch a farm breakfast, shop the farm store, or just take in the scenery,

Greetings from Parowan Mural on Main Street
Location: Sweet Pea Farm & Orchard at 136 S 600 W, Parowan
Styled like a cute vintage postcard, each letter of this mural represents something unique and wonderful about Parowan. From the nearby outdoor recreation spaces like Yankee Meadow Reservoir to local icons like the Old Rock Church, this mural highlights the best of our favorite Mother Town.

Murals at the Parowan Pool
Location: Parowan City Pool at 89 South 300 East
The most fun decor made its way to the Parowan City Pool last year with the addition of 7 murals on the wall surrounding the pool. These murals were painted by locals and are a great addition to this community space.
