Parowan to Cedar Breaks: A Scenic Southern Utah Day Trip

Parowan, Utah, is the perfect place for a day trip filled with small-town charm, mountain views, and outdoor fun!

From morning to evening, you'll be exploring historic sites in Parowan, then spending your afternoon in Brian Head and Cedar Breaks with scenic drives, fresh mountain air, local dining, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

Start your day in Parowan with a relaxed morning, some local history, and a to experience the small-town charm.

Morning: Fuel up with a hearty breakfast at DeDe's Farmhouse Cafe, or grab a coffee and breakfast bite to-go from Big Cups.

Mid-Morning to Early Afternoon: Take a stroll through town and explore historic sites like the Old Rock Church Museum, Jesse N. Smith Home Museum, and Heritage Park.

For a little bit more history, take a short detour to Parowan Gap, located just outside of town. Here, you can discover ancient petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks.

Brian Head Town & Resort

From Parowan, head up Highway 143 towards Brian Head Town. The drive takes about 20 minutes, but don't rush it! Take your time to stop at the scenic pullouts along the way and enjoy the views.

Afternoon: Once you reach Brian Head, stop for a lunch break at Rosales Mexican Food or Pizanos Pizzeria right there at The Mall. After lunch, spend some time exploring the area, ride the scenic chairlift, or hike one of the nearby trails for a little more outdoor adventure.

Cedar Breaks National Monument

From Brian Head, take Highway 143 onto Highway 148 towards Cedar Breaks National Monument, your last stop on this day trip. 

Evening: If you have time, stop at a few of Cedar Breaks' scenic overlooks, including Sunset View, Chessman Ridge, North View, and Spectra Point. Each overlook gives you a different perspective of the beautiful red rock amphitheater. 
 

After exploring Cedar Breaks National Monument, head back down to Parowan for dinner at either Jersey's Corner or Pacos Family Diner.
