While many visitors come to Cedar City for the national parks, scenic drives, and hiking trails, there are also plenty of other ways enjoy the area. From alpine lakes and local fishing ponds to waterfalls and swimming pools, here are several ways to cool off for the summer!

Spend the Day at Navajo Lake
Just 40 minutes from Cedar City, along scenic Highway 14, you'll find Navajo Lake, a beautiful high-elevation destination known for its cooler summer temperatures and endless outdoor recreation opportunities. Visitors can enjoy activities such as kayaking, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and camping near Duck Creek Village.
For those looking to explore the lake further, the Navajo Lake Loop Trail is a moderate 8.6 mile loop around the lake that is primarily used for hiking and mountain biking.
Make a Splash at the Cedar City Aquatic Center & Lake at the Hill
If you're staying in town and looking for an easy family-friendly activity, the Cedar City Aquatic Center is a great option! Enjoy water slides, swimming pools, a hot tub and many other amenities perfect for guests of all ages.
Right behind the Cedar City Aquatic Center is another local favorite, the Lake at the Hill. This community recreation area offers opportunities to swim, paddleboard, kayak, fish, and relax along the shore. However, a valid Utah fishing license is required and can be purchased through the Utah Wildlife website.
Hike Kanarra Falls
For visitors looking to combine their water adventure with an unforgettable outdoor experience, Kanarra Falls is one of Southern Utah's most sought after hikes.
Located about 20 minutes south of Cedar City in Kanarraville, this moderate hiking trail will wind you through stunning red rock slot canyons and creek crossings to access the Kanarra Falls. Good water shoes are recommended and pets aren't allowed on the trail.
A permit is required to hike the waterfall and can be purchased at kanarrafalls.com.
