With a backdrop of stunning southern Utah landscapes and an unexpected but bright and bustling art scene, the arts public art in Historic Downtown Cedar City is always worth a visit. While the Beverley Center is best known for being home to the Utah Shakespeare Festival and the Southern Utah Museum of Art, the sculptures throughout deserve their own highlight!
Learn a bit more about the TWO sculpture gardens located at the Beverley before setting off for a little wander of your own.
The two sculpture courts at the Beverley Center for the Arts are the Stillman Sculpture Court and the Pederson Shakespeare Character Garden. Right next to each other, it makes wandering both sculpture courts very doable with a quick afternoon visit.
About the Stillman Sculpture Court
The Stillman Sculpture Court hosts contemporary sculptures from six artists. The Stillman family "wanted to create a space dedicated to many varieties of emotion, ages, activities, body types, attires, and cultures." The pieces within the Stillman court are beautiful, unique, and thought-provoking. A beautiful addition to Historic Downtown Cedar City.

The Pederson Shakespeare Character Garden
The Pederson Character Garden has nine sculptures depicting characters from the pages of The Bard. Including Shakespeare himself! There are quotes from each of the characters on the benches throughout the garden, as well as their plaques. It's not every day that you get a chance to pose with Cleopatra, share a smile with Bottom the Weaver, or see The Bard himself. Interwoven with beautiful flowers and unique landscaping, the character and sculpture gardens at the Beverley Center for the Arts are a sight worth seeing.
