Ready to Explore Cedar City?

Whether you're here for a day or just a few hours, there's so much to do in Cedar City, and it can be a bit overwhelming to narrow that down! So here's a quick guide for activities (indoor and outdoor), restaurants, and more within a short distance of downtown Cedar City and Southern Utah University campus.

Cedar Fun Center

Where to Play and Explore in Cedar City

Indoor activities to stay out of the cold, and a little bit of hiking too; don't worry, there's lots to do!

  • Visit the Southern Utah Museum of Art and walk the sculpture gardens at the Beverley Center for the Arts for a bit of both. A state-of-the-art art museum, SUMA is a great way to explore while staying out of the cold, and admission is free. If you've been before, the experience won't be the same, because the exhibits at SUMA rotate, so there's always something new to discover. The sculpture gardens (just outside the museum) are a fun picture spot, beautifully landscaped, and a great place for a walk to get the wiggles out while enjoying incredible artwork.

  • Play at Cedar Fun Center or Cedar Bowling Alleya little outside of downtown (about a 7-10 minute drive). These two places are perfect for an afternoon adventure that keeps you out of the cold! Grab lunch and bowl for a bit at Cedar Bowling Alley, or take on arcade games and mini golf before lunch at Cedar Fun Center.

  • Embrace the cold and hit the ice at KJ's Ice Barn in Enoch. A 15-minute drive from downtown, it's easy to spend some time on the ice before dinner.

  • Hike the red hill on trails like the paved all-access Coal Creek Trail or detour a bit to hike the Thor's Hideout Trail to find unique rock formations and vibrant scenery.

  • Step back in time with a visit to the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum and/or a drive to the Parowan Gap Petroglyphs to fit a little history into your visit. The Frontier Homestead is a pioneer history museum with fun hands-on activities, historic buildings, and exhibits. The Parowan Gap is a unique petroglyph site, showing the history of thousands of years of the Fremont, Southern Paiute, and Hopi people as they traversed the valley.
