From the trails to museums and shopping, there are plenty of places to explore in the area with your furry friend! Here are a few destinations we would put on our exploration list. 

Pet Friendly - DowntownExploring the Town - Cedar City

Historic Downtown Cedar City is a great place to start your pet-friendly adventure! Wander the shops, enjoy a meal on the patio, and find vibrant murals as you go. Your furry friend can join you on the patio at I/G Winery, for a walk through the sculpture gardens at the Beverley Center for the Arts, or an art stroll around the campus of Southern Utah University. 

The Frontier Homestead State Park Museum is another pet-friendly destination, not far from downtown. Browse the exhibits, visit preserved pioneer homes, and enjoy hands-on history activities with your pet at your side.

Outdoor Recreation Spaces to Visit

 
From the rolling volcanic hills of Three Peaks Recreation Area to the vibrant alpine forests surrounding Brian Head, there are SO many places to visit in the area that are perfect for an outdoor adventure with pets! You can start close to town with disc golf and hikes in the red rock landscape of Thunderbird Gardens Recreation Area. Or opt for the quiet landscapes of Three Peaks Recreation Area for disc golf, hiking, room to run, stargazing in the evening, and more.

 

 

With a short drive, lakes like Navajo Lake and Yankee Meadow Reservoir are perfect afternoon getaways when the summer temperatures climb. And the trails in the area are pet-friendly for leashed pets! Hike the short Bristlecone Pine Trail for views of Zion National Park in the distance and ancient Bristlecone Pines. Aspen Mirror Lake is a short loop around a scenic high-elevation lake near Duck Creek Village. If you're looking for a true challenge, the climb to Valentine Peak is difficult but rewarding, with incredible views of Parowan from the top.

Hiking the Pa'rus Trail - Zion National ParkVisiting Nearby National Parks

Close to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon, with places like Cedar Breaks in between, a visit to Cedar City isn't complete without a visit to the national parks. Travelling through National Parks with pets can be a bit more restrictive, making it important to know which trails your furry friend can and cannot hike before you go. 

Cedar Breaks National MonumentPets are welcome on the paved overlooks/areas as well as the Sunset Trail that connects Sunset View Overlook and Point Supreme. Pets must be leashed at all times. 

Zion National Park + Kolob Canyons: Pets are welcome in developed picnic areas, campgrounds, and the Zion Lodge. The only trail pets are welcome on in Zion is the Pa'rus TrailPets must be leashed at all times. In Kolob Canyons, pets are not allowed on any trails, but you can still take the 5-mile scenic drive through the canyon. 

Bryce Canyon National Park: Pets are welcome on the Rim Trail (paved section) located between Sunset and Sunrise Points. As well as the paved trail that runs from the park entrance to Inspiration Point. 
Pets must be leashed at all times.
